The Company Section Including Our Seniors

The copany section is home to the older lads at the boys brigade and our certainly has plenty of characters! In honesty we wouldnt be without any of them there a great bunch. On this page you can find out what our company section members get upto along with some input from the lads themselves.

Our Typical Night

Winter session:

19:45 Fall In for inspection and the evening starts
20:00 Drill Practice (usually ten mins untill the competion nears)
20:10 Classes
20:45 Fall out
20:55 Getting changed and tuck shop!
21:00 Games
22:00 Hometime

Summer Session:

19:30 Meet
19:35 Traveling to activiy / Organising Teams
19:50 Activity
21:10 Pack Away / Travel home
21:30 Home Time

The Company Section

Here at the 1st Redditch Company our ‘Company’ & ‘Senior’ Sections meet together on a Friday evening from 7:45 pm till 10:00 pm.
Lads
We start the evening by falling in with an inspection of the boys’ uniform.
We then have a varied programme of badge work, drill and physical
activities.

Badge Work

We have recently changed our programme to encompass the new Company Section (11–14yrs) ‘Discover’ programme. This has proved to be interesting and exciting with a whole new range of activities for the lads to get their teeth into; from Cooking to Pod Casting.

In September 2008 we will be starting the new ‘Challenge Plus’ programme for the ‘Seniors’ (14–19yrs), this will be on similar format to the ‘Discover’ programme, so we are all looking forward to its’ release.

Extra Activities

We have throughout the year several competitions within the Worcestershire Battalion including Five-A-Side football, Darts, PE Competition, General Knowledge Quiz and more. We also have the opportunity to take part in National competitions and endurance challenges e.g. the Cleveland Hike (a two-day hike across the north Yorkshire Moors). If you check out some of our awards pages you will see that at 1st Redditch we have a great tradition of being very successful within competitions especially Drill.

We also have at least two weekends away, usually an indoor weekend in October (see here for the latest trip) and an under canvas camp in the June (this year will be 6th–8th June will be at Biblins Youth Camp).

We also have regular trips to play ‘Quasar’, Ten Pin Bowling, together with swimming trips or Ice Skating.

The Members

We currently have 14 boys in the ‘Company’ & ‘Senior’ Sections, and 5 of them are NCOs (None Commissioned Officers) one Sergeant, two Corporals and two Lance Corporals. Once a boy reaches 14 years old they can be considered for promotion to one of the NCO ranks, but they also have to prove their commitment and enthusiasm to the Company.
