The Company Section undertook a ‘Film Review’ task as part of their ‘Skill’ badge. This involved selecting a film to watch (James Bond, Quantum if Solace) and the venue (Redditch, Apollo Cinema). So on the 28th November we met up at the cinema to watch the film. Then on the final Friday of this badge the boys reviewed the film talking about its good and bad points and giving it a mark out of 10. They scored the film 6 out of 10 on average and the following quotes are some of the lad’s opinions on the film;
Good Points:
- “The the cars, special effects and that Bond gets his revenge”
- “Good cars, good effects and lots of action”
- “Cars and bond girls”
- “Baddy dies and special effects”
- “Action, adventure, cars and gun use”
- “Didn’t use classic Bond lines (‘the name is Bond – James Bond’ and ‘Shaken not stirred’)”
- “He destroys the Aston!!! and the car chase was unrealistic”
- “Bond never gets badly hurt – unrealistic”
- “Lots of fighting”
- “The first 30 minuets was too fast and confusing”
- “Slow down the camera on the fight scene”
- “More nice cars and slow down the action”
- “Less fighting and slow it down”
- “More realistic because in the end scenes James managed to survive a burning building without getting burnt”
Out of the ten boys who watched the film; 4 thought it was a very good film, 2 thought it was not a good film and 4 thought it was an OK film. All the leaders that went enjoyed it but did feel a lot of the fight scenes were too fast to keep up with.
