Enrolement and Service of Re-Dedication
Our annual service of enrolment and re-dedication took place on Sunday evening at The Bridge Church, Headless Cross. This is the service where Boy's and Girls' Brigade members & leaders renew their promises to God in front of the Church family. During the service members of the 1st Redditch Brigades receive their membership cards.
New BB Captain Commissioning
Andrew Kimberley was formally commissioned as Captain of the 1st Redditch Boys' Brigade by Rev Steve Levett. This involved him making a promises in loyalty to our Lord, to continue to be diligent in prayer and preparation for his duties, seeking in true friendship to do all he possibly can to help boys become followers of the Lord Jesus Christ?
Awards
This year's Anchor Boys' Cup was awarded jointly to Matthew and William Hughes for their effort and enthusiasm throughout the previous year.
The Junior Section Cup went to Robert Rea for achieving the most points in inspections on Friday nights.
Jack Wheale a member of the Senior Section was awarded the Captain's Cup (our founding Captain Mr Alan Sealy) for his continued high levels of effort and commitment throughout the year.
The Darren O'Connor Achievement Shield is a prestigious award that the leaders in each section nominate a member from their section and Mr & Mrs O'Connor award the shield to one of the nominees. The winner gets to keep the large shield for a year and a smaller shield to keep. This year's winner is Junior Section member James Hughes. James was nominated for his new found confidence in the Junior Section. James now takes part in most games and activities and also is conversing with members and leaders alike.
Promotions
In the Company & Senior Sections there were several promotions:
- Private Carl Baker was promoted to Lance Corporal
- Private Daniel Pitts was promoted to Lance Corporal
- Private Joël Minett was promoted to Lance Corporal
- Lance Corporal Robert Sadler was promoted to full Corporal
- Lance Corporal Alex Sampson was promoted to full Corporal
- Lance Corporal Jack Wheale was promoted to full Corporal
Everyone enjoyed the service led by Rev Steve Levett with its message of, "if your Xbox causes you to stay up late so that you are tired at school/work then you should throw it out of the window!"
