News - Worcester Battalion Anchor Boys Sports Day 2010

We took part in the Anchor Boys´s Sports Day and everything it had to offer read on to see how we did.

A fun time was had by both staff and lads who attended the Worcestershire Battalion Anchors Sports Day over at Carters Lane Baptist Church in Halesowen. When we arrived the sun was shining, the perfect weather.

The lads were split into three age groups before th events began. Each lad tried their best at all the events. There was a sack race, football dribling, shotput (with a tennis ball), a sprint, an egg and spoon race, bean bag in a bucket and finally tennis ball in a bucket.

Drinks were served at half time to some now very thirsty Anchors!

After completing all the events there was a surprise for the staff involved. We were asked to join in some sports day fun with the sack race and football dribling but with a rather dodgy football. Both Sam and Martin selected me to represent 1st Redditch! I came 2nd in the sack race and a very dismall last in the football dribbling! After the lads had finally finished laughing at the staff it was time to get out of the sunshine and into the nice cool hall.

Devotions were led by Jamie with the 1st sports day held in Bible, David and Goliath!

After devotions came the much awaited results. All lads who attended away with at least one certificate either Bronze, Silver or Gold. After a prompt finish at 4pm - so that everyone could get home in time for Englands first World Cup game, everyone was given a bag of sweets to take home.

Thankfully all the excitement and running around had tired out the lads we took so the journey home was very quiet.
