Redditch hosts the Anchor Boys' Christmas Party!
At half past 10, 17 very excited young lads from around the Worcester Battalion arrived at the Methodist Halls ready for a morning full of fun and laughter.
To start off the morning Rev. Bob and his wife Jenny kick started the day with an excellent devotions session which the lads all enjoyed.
After devotions the lads were split into 4 groups to start off the activities, which included;
- Card making
- Biscuit Decorating
- A letter to Santa
- Cracker building and Decorating
- Felt hand construction to make an advent wreath
A short drink and biscuit break after the first activity was well received with a few hands sneaking a couple of extra biscuits!!
After followed the other activities with lots of laughter and concentration. A short game of sleeping lions was played, although were not sure sleeping lions wriggle or move around quite so much!
Some very well decorated cards and crackers were made and showed an excellent and incredibly creative nature from the group of young lads.
Lunch consisting of hot dogs and grown up – broccoli and stilton – soup was gobbled up in a flash with many asking “please sir can we have some more?!”
After lunch it was time for a very loud game of musical chairs with a little bit of cheating from some! Well done to Liam from 1st Redditch for an excellent win.
Musical statues promptly followed with all the lads showing off their moves to some well enjoyed Christmas music. Another well done to Will who pulled some very good poses when the music stopped.
Whilst all this was going on Santa’s – 6ft tall – little helper visited to take away all the long letters written to Santa. He arrived back moments later with gifts for all and a reply from Santa to each of the boy’s letters.
A very enjoyable morning was had by all with a huge thank you to all who attended. A special thank you to the newly promoted lance corporals and Sergeants from 1st Redditch who definitely stepped up to their roles and showed us their promotions were worth everything and lastly to our camp mom for all her hard work in the kitchen.
